Community Media Forum Europe Newsletter October 2016 Welcome to the October 2016 issue of the CMFE newsletter! Since our last newsletter, a lot has happened – and we are looking forward to an even busier autumn! Apart from new books, conference participation and lobbying efforts in Brussels and Strasbourg, we are particularly looking forward to our General Assembly in Halle at the end of the month. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there! CMFE General Assembly in Halle/Germany European media against hate speech – Project launch Community media at the Prague Media Point Conference Media pluralism and transparency of media ownership – Strasbourg Fundamental Rights on ‘Media Pluralism and Democracy’ First book on community radio in Polish New Journal: Radio, Sound & Society The Radio Conference 2016: Transnational Radio Encounters Refugee Radio Network “European Citizenship in Challenging Times” – strengthening community media as a solution Let Us Tell Our Own Stories: Diversity In The Media – English, Italian and German Version available Another important aspect is of course sustainability: We will be invoicing soon and by taking two annual membership fees at the same time the CMFE makes some administrative savings. This is why we are offering a discount on paying two years together (2016 / 2017).  However, we do run the organisation on a tight budget and we would ask that those that feel that they can afford to pay the standard rate (without the discount) to please do so.  The additional funding will really help us with our work. Please be aware of the new account number and bank details on your invoice! En av våra samarbetspartner i EU-projekten håller på med en undersökning av relationen mellan Närradion och samhället. Var gärna med och fyll i undersökningen på länken nedan. Se mer info på engelska nedan. I am Igor Žmitek Prošić, co-worker of Radio Student from Slovenia and for my thesis I’m researching the relationship of community radio stations and their communities. Before you is a short questionnaire which tries to identify the ways and activities by which you interact and engage with your communities. I am doing my research with the help of the AMARC World Network which will gladly use the results by their future endeavours. I kindly ask you for 10 min of your time to answer the questionnaire by the 12th of August 2016. Doing so, you will enable the network of community radio stations a better understanding of your relationship with your communities which you address, and enable me to finish my educational path in the field that interests me.
